Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I write about anything that interests me.

Week Notes - 4/August/2018

Inspired by a friend's effort on weekly review, I am experimenting the same here. Goal is look back on the week and jot down the key impressions.

  • I wanted to get back into my low carb diet and I was quite successful at it. I found a couple of vendors on Instagram, who make meals and desserts in low carb way.

  1. One is Calthea's kitchen. They make good keto lunches. I ordered 3-day meal from them. It was simple, quite tasty and really filling. The first day, I got paneer tikka salad it was really yummy. The second day, I got wild mushroom with schezwan sauce and it was also nice. The third day was a downer. It was cauli rice with some curry, I didn't like that at all.

  2. Another kitchen I discovered was Ketoma. They make low carb pastries and keto friendly ice creams. I ordered salted caramel and it was okay. But I wanted to give another try with them and ordered chocolate ice cream, it was awesome. I have not gotten myself into ketosis yet, so I don't know if they really impact that or not. I will know in a week's time

  • I really had a great time with my colleagues this weekend as we went for a team outing. Our team is of 40 people and we went to a beach resort nearby and had great fun. All of us, including me, danced and had fun. Well, my dance was more like moving my belly, legs and shooting arrows with my hand.

  • I got to meet a good friend and her kids after a long time. We went to Cream Center in the Forum Mall for dinner with them. Both the kids have grown up really fast now and I had the usually but always surprising reaction of a parent, "They grow up so fast".

  • I watched one Telugu movie, Oh Baby, in the theatre with family. It is an adaptation of a Korean movie but it was fun. I was really impressed by Samantha's acting skills. The movie's screenplay was a bit long and it could have been short. But I was really surprised at my Telugu skills, that I didn't read the subtitles at all but could understand the movie completely. Some achievement in the last ten years after marrying a Telugu speaking wife.

  • On reading, I completed four essays in Manu Pillai history book. It is fun and light read on history. The essay I read mainly was about a rowdy boy turned war hero of British Empire, Robert Clive and one essay is about what would have happened if British didn't colonise the country. Long story short: things might have been worse with caste discrimination and other shortcomings of then kings. English were racist and looted the nation but they did something for their comfort which had benefits for many non-elites of India.

  • On listening, I really liked Nat Eliason's podcast Made to Think. I listened to four episodes in this week. It is so easy and relaxing to listen to two freinds chat about a book and topics related to it. I really liked it.
